merry christmas

over the holiday season grandma took baby girl to a children's christmas concert. there was singing and games and during the event santa made his appearance. as he took to the stage, baby girl tugged on grandma's sleeve and triumphantly whispered in her ear, "grandma, that's not the real santa, that's only a person in a costume. the real santa is at my mall!"

here comes santa claus.

she asked me if santa was magic. she couldn't see the smile on my face as she was snugly strapped into her car seat on the way home from school that day, "oh yes baby girl, santa is very magic!" i replied.
"but how does he do his magic?" she asked.
"hmmm", i thought, "well, he puts his finger to the side of his nose and winks his eye, i think."
"oh."
after a second or two she asked, "mom? how do you know all this stuff about santa?"
again i smiled to myself, a great big smile of knowing, "nana told me."
she slowly nodded her head and said, "yeah, nana knows stuff."

on any given afternoon...

there may be some construction going on...




and possibly a pony show...or two!
